Transition2024

Teacher credentialing for a person in my situation:

Teacher credential is a two step process: 1) earning the credential (take the classes, do student teaching, and pass the tests), and 2) clearing the credential (go through a teacher induction program). For my particular situation, I can (1) skip most of the classes, tests and student teaching using my private school teaching experience, and (2) do the induction program while teaching at a private school.

The one rub is that I will be hired at XXX as a chemistry teacher, so my Caltech degree won't count for the Subject Matter Competence requirement... how to do that? I think I can just pass the CSET? And then get a physics certification later if I teach that subject — involves classes and test.
