APStatisticsFabFour
Dave Bock posted this list of what we affectionately refer to as the Fab Four:
-
Bock, Velleman, and DeVeaux, Stats: Modeling the World, 2nd Ed., Addison-Wesley, 2007 (http://www.phschool.com/advanced/course_match/cm_statistics1.html)
-
Peck, Olsen, and Devore, Introduction to Statistics and Data Analysis, 2nd Ed., Duxbury, 2005 (http://www.brookscole.com/cgi-brookscole/course_products_bc.pl)
-
Watkins, Sheaffer, and Cobb, Statistics in Action, Key Curriculum Press, 2003 (http://www.keypress.com/catalog/products/textbooks/Prod_StatisticsInAction.html)
-
Yates, Moore and Starnes, The Practice of Statistics, 2nd Ed., W. H. Freeman, 2002 (http://bcs.whfreeman.com/yates2e/)
All four textbooks were developed specifically for AP Stat. I think it's a mixed lot on the list on who uses which textbook. My textbook adopted the YMS book, but I went with POD this year and have been immensely happy with the book. If you have the time, contact the textbook reps for each publisher and have them send you a copy for review. It's worth your time.
