HowToClearPrintSpoolerWinXP

With out HP 1408 All-in-one printer/copier/scanner if the printer gets turned off while a job is being processed then the job will stay in the spooler and not print even if the printer is turned back on, blocking other jobs from printing. The conundrum is how to clear that job from the print spooler.

This is what worked this time (2008-03-29):

0. Open the printer window and cancel all other jobs.
1. Try to cancel that job.
2. Run 'services.msc' and turn off print spooler (or run 'NET STOP SPOOLER')
3. Try to cancel job.
4. Run 'C:\WINDOWS\System32\spool\PRINTERS' and delete all files in the directory.
5. Try to cancel the job.
6. Close the printer window and open it again.

VOILA! THE OFFENDING JOB IS GONE!

2. Close the printer window.
1. Restart the print spooler (or run 'NET START SPOOLER')
0. Print the document.
